VOICE IN OFF:
UNICEF, collaborating with the
European Union, is showing the
women of rural Burkina Faso how to
grow vitamin-rich vegetables.
KIENTEGA ZOURATA: I have 7
children and thanks to the garden I've
become financially independent. Before
the garden I would grow the same things
as the other women and it was very
difficult.
VOICE IN OFF:
The women sell the surplus at local
markets after taking what they need to
feed their families.
KIENTEGA ZOURATA: The health of my children is
getting better, especially for the ones that were born
after garden because now I grow fresh vegetables to
feed them. The garden is a great opportunity for me and
I’ve decided that I’m going to work in the garden for the
rest of my life, because I can help the family financially
and I still have my own money to buy clothes for the
children and to pay for their education.
